Shkufim Atumim – Practical Rabbinics Program
Dear Applicant,
Thank you for considering the Machon Shkufim Atumim – Practical Rabbinics Program.
We are pleased to introduce you to an initiative dedicated to developing the next generation of rabbinic leaders through hands-on mentorship, guided learning, and real-life community experience.
While many achieve rabbinic ordination through rigorous study, few have the opportunity to truly practice the craft of being a rabbi — leading, guiding, inspiring, and serving a living Jewish community.
The Machon Shkufim Atumim Program bridges this vital gap between academic learning and real-world rabbinic application.
-
The Machon Shkufim Atumim – Practical Rabbinics Program is a two-year immersive mentorship and training program designed to guide ordained rabbis, Torah scholars, and advanced students through the practical aspects of rabbinic life and leadership.
It focuses not only on what a rabbi knows, but on how that knowledge is applied — in the synagogue, in the classroom, and within the broader community.
Participants gain firsthand experience in pastoral care, community building, public speaking, halachic decision-making, and spiritual guidance. -
Much like a law graduate must complete an internship to practice law effectively, a rabbi too must translate academic Torah learning into lived leadership.
The Machon Shkufim Atumim answers a critical need in Jewish education today — giving scholars the chance to experience rabbinic life in practice.
The goal is to transform theory into action, allowing the Torah’s wisdom to guide authentic community life. -
This program is ideal for:
Ordained rabbis seeking a unique and broad-spectrum hands-on rabbinic experience.
Advanced yeshiva students or scholars preparing for leadership roles.
Educators and community leaders looking to deepen their practical engagement with Jewish life.
Experienced rabbis who wish to mentor the next generation.
Each participant is paired with seasoned mentors and placed in environments that provide both observation and active experience.
-
The primary goal of the Machon Shkufim Atumim is to cultivate rabbis who are not only learned in Torah and halacha, but who can live, embody, and communicate that wisdom across all areas of life — in the pulpit, in counseling, and in times of communal celebration and challenge.
Graduates emerge with the confidence, sensitivity, and practical tools to lead effectively and compassionately. -
Our mission is to bridge learning and living — creating rabbis who act with compassion, teach with authenticity, and lead with integrity.
The vision of Machon Shkufim Atumim is to build a global network of practical rabbinic mentors and leaders who bring Torah values into every facet of Jewish life.
Through immersive service and structured mentorship, we aim to inspire connection, leadership, and lifelong learning. -
Participants engage in:
Mentorship with experienced rabbinic leaders.
Community service and outreach opportunities.
Hands-on pulpit and synagogue training.
Workshops on counseling, halachic process, and educational leadership.
Field projects that integrate Torah scholarship with practical community impact.
This approach ensures a holistic rabbinic education — intellectual, emotional, and practical.
-
Applicants are invited to submit the following:
A brief personal statement describing interest and background.
A letter of rabbinic reference or recommendation.
A current résumé or yeshiva study summary.
Selected applicants will be contacted for an interview and placement consultation. -
Become part of a transformative journey that bridges Torah study with real-world rabbinic life.
Through this program, you will gain not only experience and confidence — but the ability to live and lead Torah in the fullest sense.
